Meet Nikki Grimes, noted author, and winner of several Coretta Scott King awards and honors. Nikki is the inaugural author for Reading Pays—Pass It On, sponsored by the St. Louis Community Credit Union. Reading Pays is a new initiative for St. Louis Public Library, designed to get kids 3rd-5th grade excited about reading. In the past few weeks, several hundreds of copies of Make Way for Dyamonde Daniel have been given to kids who visited the Library. (Copies are still available.) Of course, Nikki will talk about all her books including her newest, A Girl Named Mister and Planet Middle School. Children, teens and adults are all welcome. Nikki will be at Schlafly Branch, 225 N. Euclid in the Central West End, at 6 p.m. Parking is available in the garage or at meters on the street. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
